Council Structure & Meetings



South Holland District Council is made up of 37 members. It has a Leader and a Chairman.

The Chairman represents the Council on a number of engagements, and this information can be found in the Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen section.

The Cabinet is made up of 8 members including the Leader of the Council, and these are also the Portfolio Holders.  There are also 2 Junior Portfolio Holders.

Various committees and panels hold regular meetings to decide on various matters.

The Cabinet carries out the Council’s functions which are not the responsibility of any other part of the authority. The Cabinet is made up of 8 councillors, including the Leader, and they are also known as Portfolio Holders.

Our democratic policies including the Constitution, Key Decision and Exempt Decision Plans, Officer Decisions, Whistleblowing and Petitions. The South East Lincolnshire Joint Strategic Planning Committee is a new separate statutory local planning authority made up of 3 members from each of the partner authorities, namely: South Holland District Council, Boston Borough Council and Lincolnshire County Council. Confidence in local democracy is paramount and can only be achieved when Councillors are seen to live up to the high standards the public expects. The Localism Act 2011 introduced a new regime for standards and dealing with complaints against members.
