Census 2011
The census is an estimate of the population that is carried out every ten years. Following a cabinet office review, we have now had formal confirmation that the 2011 cenus will go ahead as planned. Everyone is asked the same questions on the same day so that a snapshot of the population can be taken at one point in time. Census day is Sunday 27th March 2011. The census is important as it is used to estimate the population and number of households in each area. The results are used to allocate funding and plan services such as transport, housing, healthcare and education in each area. It is the only time every person and household is counted across the UK. Preparations for the census are underway with address checkers working within South Holland. Area managers and community advisors are also working in the district and recruitment for other census jobs is underway. For more information about the census, visit www.census.gov.uk
