Other Types of Fraud and Corruption

South Holland District Council is a large complex organisation, working with many suppliers and partners to provide dozens of services to thousands of customers. Like any business, we are at risk of fraud and corruption.

We are working hard to limit the opportunity for fraud and will take action against those who try to defraud us.

If you have any concerns about suspected fraud or corruption within or against the council we would like to hear from you.

Here are some of the types of fraud and corruption that investigators at the council may be interested in knowing about.

  • Housing - Tenants obtaining a council house using false information; not living at their council property - subletting it; falsely obtaining the right to buy.
  • Insurance - Bogus insurance claims - people falsely claiming injury as a result from a trip or falls on council property.
  • Corruption - Employees using their position to influence the award of contract; securing a job for a family member; remaining on sick leave but working elsewhere.

If you have any concerns regarding a suspected fraud or corruption either against the council or within it, you can contact the Head of Finance, Elizabeth Jones:

  • By Telephone: 01775 764487
  • By Email: EJones@sholland.gov.uk
  • In writing to The Council Offices, Priory Road, Spalding, PE11 2XE

Information you provide will be treated in the strictest confidence and you may remain anonymous if you wish.

The Council's Whistleblowing Policy explains how your information will be treated.
