Parish Charter

Councils at all tiers in Lincolnshire have agreed to publish a charter which sets out how they aim to work together. The Charters are intended to verify existing good practice and also find new ways of working where relevant.

South Holland District Council is keen to see continued efforts being made to improve our system of local democracy and to see greater public participation in the system.  By working with Parish/Town Councils the Principal Authorities act in partnership with the most local communities.

The Parish/Town Charter reflects the increasing importance attached by Central Government to partnership working and the development of "Quality" status.

South Holland District Council has asked all Parish/Town Councils to sign up to the Charter in the hope that it will bring the community closer together and improve the way that things are done.

Currently only three Parish/Town Councils are signing up to the Charter with South Holland District Council, these include:
  • Gedney Hill Parish Council
  • Moulton Parish Council
  • Sutton Bridge Town Council

It is hoped that the remaining Parish/Town Councils in the district will see the benefits of signing up to the Charter to improve opportunities for local communities.

If any Parish/Town Council would like to receive further information or arrange to sign up to the Charter, please contact Amanda Dickinson in Legal and Member Services, Council Offices, Priory Road, Spalding, Lincs  PE11 2XE.
