Rural Transport

Public transport

There are numerous bus services that operate across South Holland; Interconnect, Call Connect and the Spalding Town Service. They are a mix of commercial and subsidised services. More information on planning your journey.

Community transport

Community transport is the provision of transport for people who are unable to use conventional public transport due to the lack of an available service, isolation, disability or mobility difficulties. Community transport is a demand responsive service and so often has to be booked in advance. They are set up to help benefit the local community and operate on a not for profit basis, although there is still a charge for using the service.

South Holland District Council is reviewing its dial a ride service and is working with Lincs County Council on alternative transport options. If you have any queries then please contact the Community Development Officer on 01775 761161.

If you want to use community transport in South Holland then you can check eligibility and availability of local services at the a2b website

SHDC supports numerous schemes including: -

  • Dial a ride - 0845 456 4474 , a demand responsive door to door transport service.
  • Holbeach Community Minibus - 01406 422825 , a charity trust, funded locally who own a 16 seater minibus that is available to local groups for hire.
  • South Holland Voluntary Car Scheme - 01406 350092,  provides a low cost voluntary car sharing scheme across South Holland.

As dial a ride is a community transport service, the concessionary fares for public transport cannot be used. More details about the South Holland District Council's concessionary fare scheme can be found by following the link.

Further information on Community Transport schemes can be found at the links below:

The Community Transport Association can provide advice and guidance on establishing new Community Transport Services.

A database of the numerous Community Transport schemes across Lincolnshire has been developed. It allows the user to identify the local services that meet their specific transport needs.

SHDC is represented on the Spalding Mobility Management Committee. This allows visitors to Spalding town centre to borrow an electric scooter or wheelchair. For more details contact 01775 722786.
