Lottery Funding

For every £1 that the public spends on lottery tickets, 28p goes to the lottery good causes. These are the arts, charities and voluntary groups, heritage, health, education, the environment and sports. Lottery funders are the organisations that distribute the good causes money to local community and national projects. More details can be found on the official lottery website.

Big Lottery Fund (BLF)

BLF is the new organisation formed as a result of the merger between the Community Fund and the New Opportunities Fund. Within the Big Lottery Fund there are numerous grant aid programmes.

One of its most popular grant aid schemes is Reaching Communities. This is a demand led programme that supports projects that tackle a local need or issue. You will need to show there is a need for your project, how your project provides a solution and how the community will be involved. Grants between £10,001 and £500,000 are available for projects for up to five years. There is a maximum of £50,000 for capital grants. They will fund 100% of a project but would encourage groups to seek additional funding.

Awards for All

Do you need between £300 and £10,000 to help improve your local community and the lives of people most in need? Are you a voluntary or community organisations, school, parish or town council or a health body? Then awards for all could be the right fund for you! It will fund projects that meet one or more of the following outcomes; people having better chances in life, stronger communities, improved rural and urban environments and healthier and more active people and communities.


Arts Council

The Arts Council England is the national development agency for the arts in England, distributing public money from Government and the National Lottery. The Arts Council offers grants for individuals, arts organisations and others who use the arts as part of their work. It will support arts related projects that benefit people in England or that help artists or arts organisations in England carry out their work.

Changing Spaces: Community Spaces
Grants are available between £10,000-£450,000 to community groups who want to improve their local green spaces including play areas, community gardens, parks, wildlife areas and village greens.

Community Wildlife
Grants of between £3,000-£10,000 for projects that can be finished within one year and that bring local people together to discover, enjoy and protect the wildlife in their area.


Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF)

Heritage Lottery Fund enables communities to celebrate, look after and learn more about their diverse heritage. HLF has awarded over £3 billion to projects that open up the nation's heritage for us all to enjoy and celebrate. Heritage can include many different places and things including historic parks, sites and buildings, natural habitats and countryside, museum collections, archives and industrial, maritime or transport heritage.

Heroes Return 2
Grants of £15-£5,500 open to World War II Veterans who are taking part in commemorative visits within the UK and overseas. War widows and widowers are also eligible, and carers and spouses can receive funding to travel with veterans.


Sport England

Sport England is an organisation committed to creating opportunities for people to start in sport, stay in sport and succeed in sport. Sport England also works hard to make England more active. They encourage people to get involved with sport and physical activity. Capital and revenue grants are available for recruiting and training coaches and volunteers, sports halls club houses/pavilions and multi use games areas.

Lottery Officer Support

Lincolnshire County Council employ a Lottery Officer for Lincolnshire. There role is to help groups and organisations with advice and support on submitting a Lottery application. For more information contact 01522 550510.
