Community Grants Scheme for Village Halls and Recreation Projects

Lincolnshire County Council and South Holland District Council make grants to voluntary organisations who have the responsibility for Village Halls, Community Centres, Recreation Grounds, Playing Fields, Play Areas and facilities for young people in Lincolnshire. Grants are aimed at improving facilities to make them modern, safe and accessible for everyone.

Applications are welcomed from any voluntary body operating within a constitution including village hall committees, charities, parish councils and voluntary/community groups.

Grants are awarded twice a year and applicants should know within three months whether they have been successful. The scheme is currently CLOSED for applications and will re-open again in June 2012.  For more details contact Wendy Hart Moore on 01522 552223. Applicants are encouraged to seek funding from other sources (e.g. own funds, Lottery) and must submit accompanying documentation alongside their grant application. Grants cannot be made to work that has already been done.

There are numerous other funders that will consider projects relating to village halls. For more information click on the links below.

WREN Focuses its funding on community based projects including the provision or improvement of a public amenity. This includes village halls, children's play equipment, village greens, community gardens and public parks. It also has money available for the repairs or restoration of buildings used for religious worship or of architectural or historic interest. Maximum awards are £50,000.

Local not for profit organisations that wish to implement sustainable energy projects in their buildings have the opportunity to apply for grants of up to £30,000.

Not for profit organisations are invited to apply for funding to install renewable energy technologies and energy saving measures. The maximum capital grant available is £50,000 or 50% of the project costs. Project development grants are also available to investigate the feasibility of installing any combination of the appropriate technologies. The maximum grant is £5,000 or 75% of the study cost - which ever is lower.

Grants of between £300 and £10,000 are available for projects that must meet one of the following four outcomes:

  • people having better chances in life
  • stronger communities
  • improved rural and urban environments
  • healthier and more active people and communities
