Accidents are the second biggest childhood killer in the UK and put more children in hospital than any other cause. Some children are left scarred for life or permanently disabled.
However, we can prevent many of these deaths and serious injuries - and without wrapping children up in cotton wool. Child Safety Week helps people understand the real risks to children and the simple changes they can make to reduce those risks - so that children and young people can enjoy safer, healthier, more active lives.
Child Safety Week is the Child Accident Prevention Trust's flagship community education campaign. This year - through their theme Make a change, Make a difference - they're spreading the message that even small changes in our everyday lives can make a big difference to children's safety.
