Small Business Rate Relief

The Government has decided to remove the requirement to re-apply for Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR). Businesses must continue to meet the conditions which apply at the time of their application and will have to notify the Council if they are no longer eligible for the relief. From 1 April 2010 eligible properties of £6000 rateable value (RV) or below will receive 50% relief, and eligible properties with an RV of more than £6000 but less than £12000 will receive relief on a sliding scale.

The Government will be laying the necessary amended legislation before Parliament in due course.
