Changes to Default Retirement Age

An online toolkit is now available to help employers with the changes.

The Government has removed the default retirement age so that people can choose to work for longer. Many employers have heard about the change but need to know about what it means for their business and workers. DWP are launching an online working longer toolkit for employers to give them the information they need in one place.

The online toolkit has a pick and mix approach; you can use as much or as little of it as you need. It includes:

  • information about how the law has changed;
  • two-minute toolkit;
  • factsheets;
  • case studies;
  • help and support.

We know that many small business managers rely on their peers, other owner managers, local networks, trade bodies and trusted voices to get information and advice.

The toolkit is now available at www.businesslink.gov.uk/workinglonger.

DWP are very keen to find out how useful the toolkit is so they can keep improving it. If you have any comments, please send them to later.lifeworking@dwp.gsi.gov.uk.
