Economic Development

South Holland is a fast growing and thriving district with low unemployment and high levels of investment. Interest in investing in the district from retail, leisure, professional services and commercial & industrial sectors has grown considerably over the last twelve months.

The Council wishes to ensure that this business climate is maintained and its vision, 'to develop and promote South Holland as a thriving, living and working rural community' provides a direct link to Economic Development Unit, which directly contributes to the achievement of a number of the council's aims and objectives in social and economic terms.

The Economic Development Unit is designed to improve the economic well-being of all South Holland residents and businesses. It does this by supporting the development of the local economy and so maintaining and generating jobs for local people. Whilst the service's functions are discretionary, they play a central role in supporting the vitality and cohesiveness of life in South Holland.  Read the new Economic Development Strategy. (Word Document 1.1MB)
