South Holland is a registered training centre for the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC), running a number of locally based courses.  Details can be found below.

Level 2 Certificate in Catering

By law, all food handlers must receive adequate supervision, instruction and/or training in food hygiene for the work that they do.

Following the course you will have a better understanding of:

  • Food poisoning and prevention: Where it comes from and how it gets into our food;
  • Food safety management systems;
  • The law: A brief summary of food law and how it affects you.

Please note that to be able to complete this course, it is necessary to have a good understanding of the spoken English language; however, exam papers are available in other languages, by prior arrangement.

Level 2 Course Dates

Please note that you will need to attend both days. On the last evening, there is a short multiple choice exam.

Places are limited to 15 per course on a first come basis. If a course is oversubscribed, you will be offered a place on the next available course.

Book and Pay for Level 2 Certificate in Catering

The cost of the course is £55 (all inclusive) per candidate. This includes course literature, examination fee and certificate upon successful completion of the course and exam. Places will only be reserved once payment has been received. Once we have received a full payment and booking form, a place(s) will be reserved for you. At this point you will be sent a letter of confirmation.

To book a group of 10 people the cost of the course will be £495 (all inclusive).

You can book a course online or alternatively print out a copy of the booking form and bring it into the council offices to pay.

Level 3 Courses Information

If you are interested in attending this level 3 course or would like some more information about it, please contact the Food Team. You need to attend all 3 days of the course.

How to improve your Food Hygiene Rating (£25 per person, minimum of 4 persons).

This a half day course. The course is tailored specific to the business needs. Designed for managers and staff to enable increased standards and better food hygiene ratings. Staff will receive expert help from a food safety officer and be able to ask questions in an informal setting. Businesses will be given an action plan if they wish and they will also receive feedback as this is extremely useful and specific to each business needs whilst presenting very good value for money. For further information, speak to one of our Food officers on 01775 764478 or email foodhs@sholland.gov.uk

Book and pay online:

  1. Download a word icon level 2 application form [36kb]
  2. Send the completed form by email to foodhs@sholland.gov.uk.
  3. Make your payment by going to the Council Payment page, on this page choose 'Other Payments', then 'Food Safety', then 'Courses Level 2'. You will then be asked for your card details.
    Please Note: You will need to complete a form and payment for each entrant.

Book and pay in person:

  2. Take the printed, completed form along with your payment and process it at our cash desk at reception at Priory Road. Cheques should be made payable to South Holland District Council.

Once we have received your payment, we will then send you a letter of confirmation.

Refunds

The fee is non-refundable. However, if for any reason you are unable to attend the course you book on to, we will be able to offer you an alternative date instead.
